Description

Horsehead Nebula (B33, Ori) - starless

Voilà - my newest Horsehead nebula!

Like a lava-spewing volcano (IC434), it stands out clearly. On the left is the "burning bush" as I call it, known to astronomers as the "Flame Nebula" (NGC2024).

I collected its light for 3 hours until the redish ionized hydrogen nebula (HII regions) became so clearly visible.

Because I removed the stars, we can now see the HII regions prominently.

I even suspect - if we were to travel to the "Horsehead Nebula" (B33, lit by IC434 from behind) and arrive there - that we probably wouldn't notice anything about it: its density is far too low ... and therefore practically invisible.

Only from our huge distance and because of its enormous size, from here it looks like a red-hot "lava fountain" curtain.

I love the heaven -
and heaven loves me.
